Gartner Magic Quadrant for BI 2016 – the BIG shakeout

Some of you might remember my blog about Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms 2015. In the introduction, I wrote “…it's still interesting to see how each of the key players have (slightly) moved”. Well, I can’t say that this year. The 4 BIG traditional BI vendors have dropped out of the leaders quadrant, including IBM, Oracle, SAP and SAS. Bye bye. 3 vendors dominate the leaders quadrant now: Qlik, Tableau and Microsoft.

But there’s one BIG thing the report doesn’t talk about too much, and maybe even the most important one…

I came across a customer the other day who was faced with the following problem. The customer has many trucks on the road. Although the planning of these tracks is nicely optimized, a lot of time (and money) is lost in traffic jams. The customer got really frustrated that despite his road planning system, his business suffers from a severe time loss. Not only do some of the shippings arrive too late, but some of the itineraries could have been better planned if he were capable of taking those traffic jams into account...

Some of those extensions are good, some are less useful… To help you out, we started at Agilos a project to select the best extensions for various things, and share them with you. We tested them, but also looked into shortcomings. And it’s that experience that we want to share with you.
