Agile BI has proven its benefits in today’s fast changing economy. A traditional BI approach is not capable coping with today’s fast changing requirements. Agile BI on the other hand provides the speed and flexibility to quickly adapt to internal changes but also allows to respond to external events such as competitive pressure in a timely manner.

Some of you might remember my blog about Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms 2015. In the introduction, I wrote “…it's still interesting to see how each of the key players have (slightly) moved”. Well, I can’t say that this year. The 4 BIG traditional BI vendors have dropped out of the leaders quadrant, including IBM, Oracle, SAP and SAS. Bye bye. 3 vendors dominate the leaders quadrant now: Qlik, Tableau and Microsoft.

But there’s one BIG thing the report doesn’t talk about too much, and maybe even the most important one…

Today when you need to prepare company information for decision making, you may well end up with a Data Warehouse project. Two things will come to mind: Always late. Always more expensive than planned. But there’s a new kid on the block that might make a Data Warehouse look old fashioned…

It was back in April at Qonnections, our 10th global partner conference that we unveiled Qlik Sense 2.0 and shared our platform strategy with the world.  It was also the first time we talked in detail about our plans for QlikView 12. Today I’m delighted to be able to share the news that it’s arrived! QlikView 12 is here!

I came across a customer the other day who was faced with the following problem. The customer has many trucks on the road. Although the planning of these tracks is nicely optimized, a lot of time (and money) is lost in traffic jams. The customer got really frustrated that despite his road planning system, his business suffers from a severe time loss. Not only do some of the shippings arrive too late, but some of the itineraries could have been better planned if he were capable of taking those traffic jams into account...

Billing in Belgian hospitals is a complex process: data coming from various systems, manual encoding, invoice lines discarded due to billing rules…  Including practitioners in the invoicing process can help avoiding a lot of frustration for all people involved in this process, including also the CFO, the head of administration or the back office. Is it really that simple? Maybe. But why frustration?

What a coincidence. About one month ago, we were brainstorming with our consultants on how to share our Qlik Sense enthusiasm and expertise with the rest of the world, and we finally came up with the idea of organizing a Qlik Sense Masterclass. A half-day hands-on workshop packed with hints and tips on how to develop the world’s best analytic application. Not for the sake of the application, but to boost the value add you can get from analyzing your internal (eventually combined with external) data, so you can make better decisions.

In 2014, Gartner has provided this stunning statistic:  less than 30% of business intelligence (BI) initiatives meets the business requirements and fail to align analytics with enterprise business drivers. Why is there this gap between BI project requirements and valuable analytics for the business users?

One of the great things in Qlik Sense is that you can extend it to your needs. Many developers understood this, and are building various extensions. Some of those extensions are good, some are less useful… To help you out, we started at Agilos a project to select the best extensions for various things, and share them with you. We tested them, but also looked into shortcomings. And it’s that experience that we want to share with you. We started today with some, but we’ll add new extensions on a regular basis, so don’t forget to come back here and make your Qlik Sense platform even more powerful!
